5 Mad Men Takeaways from a Young (Impressionable) Copywriter

Five Mad Men Takeaways

Right before I started my career in marketing and copywriting, I began watching a show called “Mad Men” and immediately idolized Peggy, Don and the gang. Turns out, they’re not a good choice for role models.

Some people were lucky enough to live in a time when girdles were as commonplace as sexual harassment in the workplace, the copywriting process included heavy whiskey drinking and shuffling papers across your desk until an idea appeared, and work parties included a strip tease rendition of “Zou Bisou Bisou” by your boss’s wife. Sadly, I live in the world post-women’s rights and have to deal with silly things like blogs, equality in the workplace, and spandex-blend jeans and pants.

If you’re like me and struggle to see the good from bad advice by the bad boys of Madison Avenue, look no further. Watch below for my top 5 takeaways from Mad Men, and feel free to share some of yours below in the comments section.

Great takeaways! However, I beg to differ with point #2. The ad was more of a bad joke than a calculated risk. Read my recent blog post about the situation and let me know what you think! How Mad Men’s Racial Roulette Would’ve Played Out in Social Media aiellejai.com/?p=500
